Mauritius Emerging Tech Exhibition (METX)

The Mauritius Emerging Tech Exhibition (METX) was organized by the Mauritius Emerging Technologies Council (METC) from the 9th to 12th May 2024 at the Swami Vivekanda International Convention Centre, Pailles. The METX showcased cutting-edge emerging technologies such as AR, VR, robotics, and beyond and also provided an inclusive space to learn, discover, and experience the wonders of innovation.

The MRIC occupied an expo booth at the METX from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th May 2024, whereby

  • attendees were provided information on the National SME Incubator Scheme (NSIS) and MIR-SAT1 nanosatellite, and

  • finalists of the 3rd edition of the National Innovation Challenge were given the opportunity to showcase their idea with regards to the SMS voting competition in place (People’s Choice Awards).

 

The MRIC provided an in-cash sponsorship of Rs 100,000 for partnering with the METC on the METX event.

The MRIC also contributed in-kind through the active involvement of staff in the following activities: 

  • Organising committee of the event 

  • Assistance to METC in the organisation of METX 

  • Coordination of activities pertaining to the Executive Lounge of the exhibition 

  • Coordination of events and activities pertaining to the Centre Stage during METX

 

The Executive Director of the MRIC, Prof Theesan Bahorun, also presented the funding schemes of the MRIC and the nanosatellite project on the Centre Stage. He was also a guest of the company Naveo, one of the beneficiaries of MRIC funds which launched its product following the completion of its Collaborative Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (CRIGS) project.
