Acting Chairperson of MRIC
As acting Chairperson of the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), I am proud to be part of this organisation which is fulfilling its mandate as the apex body which advises the Government on matters concerning applied research, innovation and research and development issues.
At the MRIC, we are proud to say that we are constantly looking ahead into the next revolutionary idea so as to promote high-quality research and foster innovation.
Our projects have not only moved from the traditional sectors of development but are now encompassing high-
end areas which our stakeholders, the business community and the public at large are now taking advantage to move up in the ladder of innovation and be future ready in the increasingly competitive world.
The recent years have found a transformed MRIC, now playing prominent roles regionally in the fields of sustainable development, waste management just to mention a few but also engaging with high-end international partners in the area of space technology.
Looking forward now, with a new government in place which has already clearly spelt out its ambitions in the Government Programme 2025-2029 and in the Budget 2025-2026, regarding the importance of Research and Innovation across all government as well as across all sectors of development, the MRIC is ready to take the challenge of bringing its share of contribution in the development of Mauritius.
