Sprint4Change Innovation Workshop

Approved in December 2023 under the Innovation Boost Grant's Second Call for Proposals, Sprint4Change is a groundbreaking initiative focused on harnessing collective intelligence to tackle the pressing issue of waste reduction and management. It falls under the thematic area of Social and Grassroots Innovation, underscoring its commitment to community-driven solutions. This initiative, led by Trampoline in partnership with the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council and PwC, integrates international expertise and renowned innovation methodologies to foster the emergence of impactful solution ideas. Trampoline partnered with eight of Mauritius's leading professionals in the Circular Economy for the innovation workshop:

  1. Caroline Rault-Chief Sustainability Officer, Eclosia

  2. Diane Lautenberg- Leader in Sustainable Fashion & Entrepreneur

  3. Stephanie Boulloc- Director & Founder of La Decheteque

  4. Rishta Rajiah- Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental and Sustainability Manager at Kolos Cement Ltd

  5. Preeya V. Ramasamy Coolen- Senior Lecturer, University of Technology, Mauritius (Waste Management Environmental Sustainability)

  6. Gregory Martin- Ecological Transition Partner, Mautopia

  7. Mickael Appaya- ENL & Rogers Groups, Head of Climate Resilience & Regeneration

  8. Victoria Fauve Desvaux- Consultant in Circular Economy

The experts played a crucial role during the 2-days workshop in ensuring that the innovative ideas developed are relevant and applicable within various Mauritian industries. The workshop mobilised around 40 participants from diverse fields, 8 trained facilitators to guide the process with precision and objectivity and 1 lead facilitator was driving the session, ensuring clarity and focus. Together, they tackled the gaps and uncovered the root causes in four critical areas of impact, namely:

  • Built Environment

  • Electronics

  • Fashion & Textile

  • Packaging

Over these two days, connections were created within cross-functional teams. Participants experienced hands-on, human-centered design methodologies to boost innovation and address environmental challenges. Eight great ideas were pitched, and three of them were rewarded. While the Sprint4Change workshops are the cornerstone of the project, the initiative's impact extends far beyond these events. The project will provide ongoing support to implement the developed solutions, monitor their progress, and share learnings with the wider community.
